Can You Do Lasers and Chemical Peels During the Summer? Yes—But Let’s Talk About It.

As a master esthetician, small business owner, and mom of five (yes, five!), I get this question all the time—especially when the sun starts to show its face here in the PNW:

“Can I still get a chemical peel or laser treatment during the summer?”

The short answer? Yes, you absolutely can—but (and this is a big but)… it really depends on your lifestyle and how committed you are to following pre- and post-treatment care.

Summer Treatments Aren’t Off the Table, But Let’s Be Realistic

Let’s face it: summer is busy. Between kids’ activities, vacations, BBQs, and days at the lake or pool, we tend to spend a lot more time outside. And while I’m all about soaking up the season with your people, we also have to protect the investment you’re making in your skin.

Lasers and chemical peels can do amazing things—refine texture, improve tone, reduce pigment, and give your skin that refreshed glow—but they also make your skin more sensitive to sun exposure. That’s why it’s not a one-size-fits-all answer.

Here’s What You Need to Ask Yourself:

  • Can you avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week post-treatment?

  • Are you committed to daily SPF (reapplying every 2 hours if you’re outside)?

  • Will you follow the home care routine and avoid picking or exfoliating too soon?

  • Do you understand that sun exposure can compromise your results—or even cause damage?

If you’re nodding along and saying, “Yep, I can totally do that,” then yes—let’s talk about safe options for summer skin treatments!

But if you’re thinking, “Mmm, probably not right now,” that’s okay too! Fall and winter are often ideal times for these treatments because the sun isn’t as intense, schedules are more low-key, and your skin can recover more easily.

My Honest Mom-Business-Owner Advice?

If you can’t fully commit to the care required before and after your treatment—or if you’re planning lots of outdoor time—it’s totally fine to wait. I promise you’re not missing out. In fact, planning for the right timing can maximize your results and protect your investment.

And if you’re unsure? That’s what consultations are for! We can talk through your summer plans, skin goals, and create a customized timeline that works best for you.

Bottom Line:

Yes, lasers and chemical peels are possible in the summer—but only if you’re willing and able to follow the rules. If not, let’s plan for the cozy seasons ahead when your skin will have the best environment to heal, renew, and glow.

Your skin deserves thoughtful care—and so do you.
